Effective Tuesday 28/2

With cricket commitments concluding, East Caulfield Reserve is now free on Tuesday and Thursday nights. In changing our training session nights we will be able to take advantage of having the facility to ourselves.

In the last five weeks we have had over 70 individual players train with us, and have averaged 28 this week.

With our first practice match little more than a month away, we are training in earnest, however we welcome more faces … and we welcome seeing them more often.

Our fitness work is paying dividends with 80% of players recording Level 10 or better for the Shuttle Run (beep) Test, and 40% recording 11 or better. We had 6 players record higher than level 12 and 2 record higher than level 14 (figures you would expect to see at AFL preseason)

Don’t be concerned about being behind with your fitness preparation … the best way to catch up is with teammates! Besides, it’s better that you start now.

Last week we had the first of our intraclub quarters and we will continue this every week until the start of the season … that is, a genuine match situation every week as the season approaches.

You are required to bring a footy jumper, footy boots, mouthguard, towel, swimming gear, and runners. We look forward to seeing you there!

TRAINING

Friday, February 3rd, 2006
PreSeason training continues this coming week at East Caulfield Reserve, starting at 6.15 sharp.

Over the first 6 sessions we have seen over 55 players turn out for training – a strong showing and one which bodes well for the club!
However we have yet to crack 30 players on any one night. Some guys have come to each session, others have come to a few, while others have made just the one.

The next few weeks see us continue with our fitness programme, build on a basic skill level and begin to develop our game plan – oh, and we’ll also be testing your personal fitness levels.

We will be getting away from ECR at least once, we will begin to introduce cross-training and we will continue to include player run sessions – both sessions in Week 2 were run by the playing group!

Geoff, Phil and Steve look forward to seeing you, and any footballing friends you bring down, at next week’s sessions.

Also watch out for our first social event – coming very soon!
