POKER NIGHT RESULTS

Monday, April 30th, 2007

The poker night held on Saturday at the club rooms was a huge success.
46 players started the tournament at 8pm with the final two players getting down to business just after 1am.
Ring in Damien Taylor (a mate of a mate of a mate) ended up winning.
With Gareth (”cool calm and collected “) Kent getting into second place.

Best dressed for the night – Tim Vesey.
Luckiest player of the night – Chris Leeton.
Most disappointing player was a draw – Nick Rutherford and Jason Harrak. Big names who both failed to fire a shot.

Thanks to everyone for attending and making it a great night for the club.

ROUND 1 REVIEW

Monday, April 30th, 2007

An excellent team effort saw the Monash Gryphons register a 15.17 (107) to 10.10 (70) victory over West Brunswick.

In front of an excellent crowd at the home of football, East Caulfield Reserve, the Gryphons started the match well, with Chris Leeton booting two goals in the opening quarter.

Lee Wells was marshalling the backline well and with Jake Rotstein dominating in the ruck, the Gryphon on-ballers were winning the clearances around the ground and getting first use of the ball.

The Rutherford brothers were in excellent form around the ground and Kye Cherian took some excellent marks on the wing.

Throughout the match the Gryphons showed an excellent attack on the ball and everyone in the 22 contributed to the victory.

Next week the Gryphons travel to Bundoora to take on Latrobe University in what should be an excellent game, after both teams won in the opening round.

In the reserves, West Brunswick overpowered the Gryphons to win by 69 points.

Jeremy Landberg kicked the only two goals for the Gryphs, while skipper Vaughan Coffey found plenty of the ball in the midfield.
